A family-owned gunsmithing shop in Princeton, WV — Type 07 FFL licensed, black rifle specialists, and one of the only shops in West Virginia that will tell you where your gun is every single week while it's on the bench.
Dove's Custom Guns is a family-owned gunsmithing operation in Princeton, West Virginia, built on the belief that West Virginia gun owners deserve a shop that actually communicates — one that calls you, tells you where your firearm is, and delivers the work it promises. That belief drives everything from our $25 FFL transfer rate to our weekly build status updates.
We hold a Federal Firearms License and a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) designation — which puts us in rare company in West Virginia. SOT authorization means we can legally manufacture, transfer, and perform repair work on NFA-regulated items: suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and full-auto hosts. If your gunsmith can't take your NFA work, we can.
AR-15 and AK-47 platforms are our bread and butter — not because that's all we do, but because that's where we've gone deepest. Gas systems, headspacing, barrel threading, trigger jobs, receiver work. We also restore vintage firearms, apply Cerakote coating with proper prep and bake, and offer the cleanest FFL transfer pricing in the area.
Every build gets a bench card. You'll hear from us weekly — not when you call us. That's not standard practice in this industry. We think it should be.
You get a written number before any work starts. We don't add work without calling you first, and we don't replace parts that didn't need replacing. Simple as that.
We didn't read a YouTube video about AR-15s. We've gone deep on gas systems, headspacing, BCG fit, and barrel threading — and equally deep on AK platforms that most local shops turn away.
We price our services to be the best value in West Virginia — not because we're discounting quality, but because we don't have the overhead of a box store. Our shop, our rates.
Type 07 FFL means we can legally take in, service, and transfer NFA items. If your suppressor host needs a trigger job or a barrel thread cut, you don't have to ship it out of state.
No front counter handoff to a back shop you'll never meet. The people who take your firearm in are the people who work on it — and who call you with updates.
NFA work, vintage restorations, platform-deep AR and AK builds — the jobs other shops turn away are the ones we're set up to handle. Send us a note with what you've got.
