Custom 1911 Build
Slide-to-frame hand fit. Trigger stoned to a clean break. The platform Jerry has built for competition since 1986 — competition and carry specs both available.
Dove's Custom Guns is West Virginia's go-to bench for custom 1911 pistols, competition gunsmithing, and precision work across all platforms. Jerry Dove Jr. started in 1986 — part-time in his garage — and has been full-time at it ever since. Type 07 FFL licensed, which means we're authorized to manufacture as well as repair and transfer. One gunsmith. Real craft. Princeton, WV.
"Jerry has been gunsmithing full time since 1986 and has shot competitively for close to 30 years." — Princeton WV Business of the Week
Most gunsmiths bolt on parts. Jerry Dove builds firearms from the ground up — and competes with them. When you bring your competition pistol to this bench, it goes to someone who has won state championships on the very platforms he works on.
Jerry has competed at state and national level for over 30 years — USPSA, IPSC, SASS, PPC, 3-Gun, NRA Action Pistol, NRA Bullseye. He's won state championships. When he tunes your trigger, it's been done to his own standards on his own guns first.
A Type 07 FFL is a manufacturer's license — the highest standard for a gunsmithing shop. Dove's is authorized to build firearms from scratch, not just service them. That means the same license that covers your carry pistol covers a ground-up custom build.
Jerry started in 1986. He's fitted more slides, stoned more sears, and diagnosed more feeding issues than any new shop ever could. When something unusual comes across the bench, he's probably seen it before — and has the fix from memory.

Jerry has competed for over 30 years — USPSA, IPSC, SASS, PPC, 3-Gun, NRA Action Pistol, NRA Bullseye — and has won state championships in multiple divisions. The work he does on your firearm is held to the same standard he'd accept on his own competition gun. Type 07 FFL licensed manufacturer.
